Amalie Earrings FREE Pattern

Posted on May 2, 2014 at 9:05 PM

Good evening, dear readers!

At long last, here is my new FREE needle tatted earring pattern "Amalie":

This design is tatted with size 8 tatting needle using size 8  Valdani pearl cotton in M24 "Water Reflections" and is accented with 3mm and 4mm Light Turquoise Swarovski bicones, a 6mm Swarovski chaton and Delica seed beads.

You begin with an ICR foundation:

String 4 sets of 1seed bead, 3mm Swarovski bicone, 1 seed bead then tat the following counts:

ICR 13 very sm- 3 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed bead) 3 very sm- 13 CL

ICR 9 very sm- 3 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed bead) 3 very sm- 9 CL

ICR 13 very sm- 3 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed bead) 3 very sm- 13 CL

ICR 9 very sm- 3 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed bead) 3 very sm- 9 CL

Pull both thread ends to front of foundation.  You will use these ends to attach the chaton when the last round is complete.

The next step goes like this:

String beads onto thread in this particular order 3 sets of seed bead, 4 mm Swarovski, seed bead followed with 6 more seed beads then one more set of seed bead, 4 mm Swarovski, seed bead.

Run needle through/join at very small - on right side of bead set of 4th ICR, pick up seed bead

CH 6 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed beads) 6 CL + to next very small -, pick up seed bead

CH 6 - (with 6 seed beads) 6 CL + to next very small -, pick up seed bead

CH 6 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed bead) 6 CL + to next very small -, pick up seed bead

CH 6 followed by 3 graduated picots (sm, med, sm) 6 CL + to next very small -, pick up seed bead

CH 6 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed bead) 6 CL + to next very small -, pick up seed bead

CH 6 followed by 5 graduated picots (sm, med, lg, med, sm) 6 CL + to next very small -, pick up seed bead

CH 6 - (with seed bead, Swarovski, seed bead) 6 CL + to next very small -, pick up seed bead

CH 6 followed by 3 graduated picots (sm, med, sm) 6 CL + to beginning of round.  Tie & cut, hide ends,

Now, use the ends at the front of the motif to afix the Swarovski chaton.  Add the earwire of your choice to the - with 6 seed beads & voila!

Hope you enjoy!

This is the pendant I tatted to go with the earrings:

Remember, if you want to get your own Valdani thread, simply go to http://www.valdani.com.

They have oodles of wonderful pearls cottons and luxury pearl silks (my personal favorite thread).

Well, it has been a very long day and I am worn out.  It is time for me to relax and unwind.  Hope you enjoy the pattern & until next time~

Happy Tatting!

Hello Rachel, I just saw your work on, Facebook. It is is beautiful . I don't understand the directions but must ask before I attempt to learn this. I am an 80 year old woman and even though I do a lot of crocheting and knitting this work looks like it needs great eyesight. I am going to You Tube to see if there are any tutorials. I left a comment on FB but thought you might miss it.

Love this pattern and I will let you know first when I make those darn Victorian shuttles, I struggled with making more because even after smoothing the edges, they were still a little too bumpy, the thread stopped up the tatting a bit and so I was trying to figure out how to solve the problem. and then I put it off :)
